The Great Disneyland Food Tour 2019

Tiffany and I have dreamed about going to Disneyland in October for at least 4 years. There is just something about those Halloween decorations and seasonal treats that have been calling our name. This year, we finally made it happen and you bet we did our research to know exactly which foods we were going to try. 

Also, I know I know, it's like, am I becoming a person who goes to Disneyland every year? Apparently I am, I'm not sure how it happened but here we are. As I rode "Soarin' Around the World" I thought, "hmm maybe I should be using my time and money to travel to other places around the world, yet here I am in Disneyland. again.". But when one lives in California....

We drove down on Thursday night, and happened to drive right through a fire: 

This picture does no justice. At one point the fire was surrounding us on both sides of the freeway. Luckily we made it through before they blocked the road. 

We figured a random weekend in October would be a good low crowd time to go to Disneyland. We were wrong. But we didn't care, because a crowded day at Disneyland eating good food and riding rides with good friends is better than a day at the office. amirght? 

First thing we did was buy the pumpkin spice beignets. During our 2 day visit we tried a combined total of 25 food items, and this was our favorite in the "sweet category".  And of course we ranked all 25 items from best to worst, separated by Sweet/Savory categories.

 We booked it to the new Star Wars land ride to avoid the inevitable huge line that was sure to appear as the day went on.

Then we tried the breakfast chimichanga. #6 on the savory list. 

It should be noted that we pretty much liked everything on our savory list, and would recommend them all. The same cannot be said for the sweets. 

The last car on Big Thunder Railroad may be my favorite place to ride in all of Disneyland. 

 Chocolate Churro: ranked #6

 Peanut butter graham cracker sandwich: ranked #4 . They recently added in peanuts to the middle and I am in mourning. 

The best lunch. The chicken roja sandwich/tortilla soup combo ranked #1 as the best savory thing we ate, with the cheese sandwich/tomato soup at #4 and the cookies and cream macaroon #3 for sweet 

#11. I don't recommend. Probably much better when fresh.

It's like, are we here just to eat, or to ride the rides? 

Hats prevent your hair from getting wet and drying in all sorts of weird ways.

Cookie Dough/Cookie Butter/Churro Sunday, a well deserved #2

 DAY 2
On Saturday we spend the day in California Adventure. We went straight to the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride, that was once Tower of Terror. 

We loved it. Rode it 3 times and could have done more. Please take the time to appreciate every single persons face in the front row. 

Overall we had a great time, rode many a ride, the weather was warm, the halloween decorations were so fun, and yet, the pictures I have are mainly of the food we tried so please enjoy: 

There is no picture of the popcorn we ate, but here is a picture of Jenn throwing away the box it came in. 

The Disneyland corndogs were amazing as always. #3 on the list.

Seriously, can I be a food blogger yet? 

 One new thing we tried was the Animation Academy, where you go to a quick animation class. We all quite enjoyed ourselves, and the 20 minutes of sitting in a cushioned chair. 

We learned how to draw Pluto, and wondered how much untapped creative potential we are suppressing.

Dusk at Disneyland/California Adventure is always an extra magical time. 

A delicious dinner ranked at #5. Our bodies were crying with gratitude at the sight of some vegetables. 

What are my hands doing?

A gigantic s'more that included a brownie. Bottom of the list. Don't recommend. But I guess it looks impressive. 

The blessed Jalapeno Cheese Pretzel. #2 of all savory things. Were we hungry? No. But we knew from past experience that we would regret not buying this.

Then, all too soon, the weekend was over. 

But wait. there. is. still. more. food. 
Tiffany bought a brownie to save and eat the following day on our drive back home.

For those concerned about our diet (and wallets), everything was always split between the 4 of us, so it wasn't like we were ever really eating that much of a single treat. 

We ate this in a Cafe Rio, when we stopped for lunch. And honestly, that Cafe Rio pork salad may be the best thing I ate all weekend. Those of you who live closer than 2 hours from your nearest Cafe Rio, cherish her. 

September 2019: A Photo Summary

September according to my camera role. 

Our friend Shannon had a red carpet themed birthday party, and a lot of us showed up wearing black, so we thought we would take a picture with the beautiful sunset.

We buzzed Bradens hair all off-he had been growing it out all year. It was very satisfying because it definitely needed to go. 

Olivia had the great idea to do a roommate breakfast before we left for work. So one Friday morning that is exactly what we did. 

Taylor, Jenn and I went to a SF Giants game. Taylor was thrilled to be there. 

I haven't been to any other professional baseball stadiums, but I have to believe that this one has the best view of them all. 

Brittany started teaching a spin class, so we all went to support our girl. You now know where I will be every Tuesday at 6pm. 

 Guess what. I went to Lake Tahoe again. We went from Friday night-Sunday morning and had a great relaxing time.  

It was a 911 Baines getaway (plus the 4 other boys who came with us).

Saturday we ate a delicious french toast breakfast, and then went on a hike to the Cascade Falls/Lake.

We then went to Emerald Bay.

 

Then we went back to our cabin, watched some of the BYU football game, and then went to town to get some BBQ for dinner. 

Over Labor Day weekend I went to North Lake Tahoe, and this time we were in South Lake Tahoe, which has a more "resort town" feel. 

Best roommates (and former roommate) that a girl could have. 

One Thursday night, Tiffany and I went to see the Anastasia play in the city. 

But first was dinner in this literal hole in the wall restaurant.

There was no seating, so I sat on the curb to eat, but it smelt like urine down there #SF. So instead I used this flower box as my table- a much better alternative.

Then it was on to the play.

Tiffany and I love the animated movie, so we were excited to see this play. This also means that we were slightly disappointed in the play because it wasn't exactly like the movie. Turns out, a communist Russia storyline isn't as fun as the mystical and evil Rasputin. But it's always fun to go to the theater, so despite it's flaws, we still had a good time. 

  

The SF Giants VS Dodgers game

For the first time in my life, we stayed to the very end of the game. Which is about 2 innings too long. But at least the company was great.
