Another summer has officially come and gone, and I have only documented half of it. Soo let's get to it shall we.
A few years ago, a bunch of girls decided to start renting a house together-the one I live in. Many have come and gone, but as of June 1st, the last of the original girls moved out. To commemorate this momentous occasion, and our two new roommates, we decided to throw a house warming party.
Since our address is 911 Baines, we decided to make it fire themed. We played any and all music with the word "fire" in it, had fire themed food, had fire man hats, and would randomly yell "the floor is lava!" and people had to jump on a pice of furniture or the counters.
We also played "who knows the girls of 911 Baines the best" trivia.
There were red lights in the front room.
We had a smores roasting station on our back patio.
We also had a "Cathartic Burning Station" where people could burn their sorrows/worries/troubles/ex's away.
Turns out candles and plastic don't mix too well.
There was the ward campout at Pinnacles National Park-which is a few hours away from Palo Alto. Still kind of confused how we ended up there. Also, not quite sure how it was deemed a national park, but it was. They have a swimming pool. I digress.
Due to a navigational error, our car made it around 12am. We really got to know each other well.
After maybe a few hours of sleep, we ate the most bougie breakfast I have ever had while camping, packed up and headed out for a hike.
Part of the hike we hiked through these slot canyons, and ended up here:
A dirty pond. It didn't stop people from jumping in. But it did stop me.
Some of the hiking crew.
One of the "pinnacle" rocks.
On the way home we stoped at a fruit stand.
We raided the samples, bought a few things anndddd
tried some Garlic ice cream. Review: didn't hate it, much better than anticipated.
we also stopped for lunch in Gilroy
which happens to be the garlic capital of the world. The town legit smells like garlic.
Another weekend we went to a dog surfing competition.
Very California.
We got brunch in Sausalito after.
That same day we also hit up the Nial Horan concert with a bunch of girls from the ward. Loved every minute of it.
A random day at work:
we went to go watch our teammate play in the Google orchestra during lunch.
A random Saturday in the summer:
Me and my special friend.
I decided to level the playing field
One day at work we decided to go to Chick-Fil-A instead of eat the free meal Google provides for us. That's how good Chick-Fil-A is.
Another summer night, another outdoor concert:
This time it was Charlie Puth. Loved every minute of it. Yes, he is shirtless. Partway through the concert he just decided he didn't need that anymore.
The Sacramento Temple/Oakland A's game debacle of 2018:
One Saturday morning we made the trek to Sacramento to go to the temple (Oakland temple is closed). We decided that on the way back we would hit up the A's baseball game.
After the temple, we were driving to the game when Andrea says "what is that smell?" to which I mentioned it might be coming from the random fire that was on the side of the road. A few minutes later I saw smoke coming out of the AC vents, and then eventually the engine was smoking as well. We pulled over, and decided that we might need to stop at a car shop real quick. Luckily, Vacaville was just an exit away.
We pulled into a Midas, but the mechanics were on lunch break, so we decided to go to a car shop across the street. But the car didn't start-and actually never started again (but I am getting ahead of myself). So the Midas it was. We walked around Vacaville, in the 90+ degree heat, to kill time. We stopped at an Old Navy so Andrea and I could buy some clothes that would be more comfortable in the insane heat. Best $5 I have ever spent.
The Vacaville day vacationers
We learned that the head gasket had blown and we were stranded 2 hours away from home.
We were still able to catch part of the game in the waiting room. Lucky us.
Luckily, Drew's sister lived an hour away and drove us to Berkley. Then we took an Uber the rest of the way home.
We began our days by leaving at 5:45am in the morning and didn't get back till 5pm. Even though the day didn't go as planned, we still had a good time hanging out together and making the best of our situation.
The next day this happened:
Tiffany and Matt got engaged at Half Moon Bay.
I actually have known this was going to happen since the beginning of June. I helped Matt pick out the ring and set up the engagement. Tiffany had no idea it was coming and was completely surprised. December 20th is the big day.
on a side note...
S.O. freaking S. I need a new roommate. Please send help and prayers that I can survive living without Tiffany.
Another Friday in August:
My team from work went to the SF Giants baseball game.
A Saturday in August:
Tiffany and I completed another year living together. We celebrated our 6th "friendaversary" with breakfast and pedicures.
(to concerned viewers: we shared the cinnamon french toast-that's not all for me)
We talked about future trips we want to go on together, and how life will look like now that we aren't going to live together come January. Costco trips and Sunday dinners will still be spent together-along with any other excuse we can find to hang out (which news flash, we never need an excuse). I'm so so happy for Tiffany and Matt, but I sure will miss living with Tiffany. I try not to think about it. Moving on....
Our friend threw another "Great British Bake Off" themed competition. This was our submission:
We got 2nd place.
The final wrap up of summer 2018 is to be continued...
